The Long Coast Relic Ruin in Horizon Forbidden West offers one of the most intricate environmental puzzles in the entire game. Located along the western coastline, this ancient facility requires players to combine spatial awareness, tool upgrades, and elevator mechanics. Understanding how to maneuver the crates and activate the power cell is essential for securing the prized Ornament inside.

Locating the Ruin and Preparing Tools

Players can discover The Long Coast Relic Ruin in the jungle region northeast of the Thornmarsh settlement. Before attempting the puzzle, ensure Aloy is equipped with both the Pullcaster and the Igniter tools. These key items are required to clear Firegleam barriers and manipulate distant levers throughout the structure.

Exploring the exterior first helps identify crucial access points and grapple ledges. Taking a moment to scan the area with the Focus highlights interactive objects like power terminals and ceiling hatches. Proper preparation prevents backtracking once inside the multi-level ruin.

Retrieving the First Crate and Power Cell

To begin solving the interior puzzle, navigate to the upper balcony and locate the Firegleam wall. Detonating the wall reveals a hidden lever that moves a rail-mounted grapple point across the gap. Use the Pullcaster on the lever, quickly grapple across, and pull the first crate down to the ground level.

Next, search the nearby staircases to locate an active Energy Cell sitting in a wall socket. Carry the Energy Cell to the elevator power terminal before its charge expires. Once inserted, the elevator will become fully functional and ready for transit.

Securing the Second Crate on the Upper Level

With the elevator powered, move the first crate inside the cabin and pull down the ceiling hatch using the Pullcaster. Take the elevator to the upper level, exit the cabin, and climb the outer wall handholds. Glide across the open courtyard toward an isolated platform holding a second crate.

Ignite the adjacent Firegleam to open a pathway back to the central shaft. Push this second crate off the ledge so it lands on the lower floor near the elevator entrance. Having two crates available is the core requirement for reaching the final ledge.

Stacking Crates to Reach the Relic Ornament

Position one crate directly inside the elevator cabin and push the second crate onto the roof of the elevator. Return to the ground floor, enter the elevator, and activate it to ascend to the second story. Climb up through the ceiling hatch to stand on top of the stacked crate on the roof.

From the elevated vantage point atop the second crate, Aloy can now reach the high handholds along the elevator shaft wall. Climb these handholds to enter the secret chamber where the Ornament resides. Collecting this artifact completes the ruin and allows players to trade it for special rewards later in the game.
